Welcome to Gabon

Gabon places and attractions are concentrated not only in the most beautiful African city - Libreville, but also in other villages that surround the capital.                                                        PORT-GENTIL

Port-Gentil (Fr. Port-Gentil) - the second largest city of Gabon, located on the coast, in the west of the country, about 144km. southwest of Libreville. Located on a narrow spit Manji, bordering the Gulf of Guinea, and is separated from the mainland wide estuary Ogove and impenetrable equatorial forests.  There is no overland road to Port-Gentil : you can reach the city either by air or by water ferry from Libreville (about 4 hours on the way).


Center of Port Gentil is built up with modern cottages in the French colonial style, there is a lot of greenery, cafes and restaurants. True, a little farther from the center of cottages gradually merge with the slum housing, but this is the routine for most cities in Africa and tourists do not drive there.



What is so interesting about this city? Despite the fact that Port Gentil is the largest cargo port of Gabon and the center of the oil industry in the country, this city also has a lovely (and not even very dirty) beaches, the presence of quite decent hotels and lodges for relaxation, entertainment as well as a developed infrastructure (casino night clubs). All of this is concentrated at Cape Lopez and originally intended for the playground of the rich oil companies and representatives of the U.S. and European companies. Now this part of Port-Gentil begins actively used for tourism purposes.


KONGOU FALLS


Waterfalls Kong (Fr. Kongou) located in the eastern Gabon, on the river Ivindo in the eponymous national park. The height of the falling water reaches 56m., And the total width of the adjacent one another successive stages than 3km. Kong is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Central Africa, and not just entered the tops of interesting places in the region according to different tourisme agencies. CRYSTAL MOUNTAIN

Crystal Mountain (fr.Monts de Cristal) - hilly mountain range (low, 600-900 meters above sea level), covered with forest. Located in the west of Gabon, about 75 km. inland from the Atlantic coast, 100km. from the capital city of Libreville. Between the generators of Crystal Mountain hills teeming rapids river flows Mbe. Its name, they got because most of the time hidden in the fog, but when the fog dissipates after all, they very expressive glisten in the sun.

The main wealth Crystalpine mountains - plant and animal. Here amazing abundance of orchids and begonias, and of the animals - forest elephants, buffalos, lowland gorillas, chimpanzees, mandrills, many species of reptiles. From the very very rare books in the Crystal Mountains can be seen leopard and black colobus (this is a unique tetradigitate monkey that has no thumb, which, actually, is a distinctive feature of any primate). In order to preserve all this natural wealth, the Gabonese government established  the Crystal Mountains National Park. No tourist infrastructure is not here, all this remained unexplored places humid tropical forest.
